Our approach

Performance by design. Tone by science.

Choose an FB Guitar, tell us how you play, then we engineer the instrument around the player.

Form follows function

Every part has a job.

We approach the guitar as one performance system. Weight, balance, neck geometry, access, hardware, pickups and player contact points are considered together.

That is why our instruments are developed to be lightweight, ultra low profile, balanced and ergonomic. We keep what serves the player and question what does not.

Your journey

From first brief to final instrument.

  1. Choose your FB Guitar

Start with Lightning Mark III or Anubis. These are the original designs we build.

  2. Complete the free Instrument Brief

Tell us your tuning, how you play, bridge and scale choices, pickup direction and tone goals.

  3. FB Guitars reviews the brief

We check the choices together and identify anything that needs clarification before technical assessment.

  4. ToneVector Assessment

ToneVector analyses the configuration and helps refine pickup choice and placement. An assessment fee applies. If you commission the guitar, the full assessment fee is credited against the guitar price.

  5. Approve the specification and quotation

You review the final Build Specification, price, applicable terms and expected lead time before the order moves forward.

  6. Build, test and refine

The instrument is manufactured, assembled, set up, inspected, measured, played and listened to before delivery.

Tone first

Your tone goal comes before the pickup position.

Pickup placement is not treated as a fixed convention. ToneVector studies the proposed guitar, strings, tuning, scale geometry, pickup data and playing intent so we can refine the tonal configuration.

Genre helps describe the musical context. It is not a switch that moves the pickup to a preset genre position.

Tested with players

Engineering still has to work in the hands.

“That blue V is an absolute beast, and it was a genuine pleasure to put it through its paces on stage!”

William Attard McCarthy, after playing the Lightning Mark II development prototype live with Extremity.

Player feedback from Lightning Mark II helped validate the performance design philosophy. The current production direction carries those lessons forward while ToneVector adds a separate analytical layer for tonal refinement.
